is announcing the latest software release
for
its Aurora Tango Gigabit Ethernet module. Version 3.00 includes
a layer
2 and layer 3 loopback
mode together with a
G.826 block error test.
Aurora
Tango Gigabit Ethernet now has the ability to qualify a
network against the main ITU-T recommendations for quality
and performance evaluation
- G.821 and G.826. Before you can test the MAC and IP layers you
must first ensure that the physical layer is working correctly. Aurora
Tango's G.821 BER test can determine the quality of the
physical medium. Because the MAC & IP BER tests conform to
G.286 for block error performance, you can monitor the quality
and characteristics of international network connections.
Frame-based tests can be transported across layer 2 and
layer 3 networks due to the use of MAC and IP address headers.
The test bandwidth can be set to check the data
rate
of the link.
Indication of Frame Loss
rate
, ES and SES are
also provided. Also included is a
latency measurement
to indicate the Round
Trip Delay
of a network, crucial for VoIP
and other real-time applications.
These standards-based tests are especially useful for telecom
engineers now working on Ethernet networks, and who need to use
a recognized test technique for measuring
link quality during
link commissioning.
This latest software also enables the Gigabit
Ethernet module to operate in a loopback only mode. A
loopback is typically used for single-ended BER and RFC2544
conformance testing.
The Aurora
Tango can selectively loop frames at the physical, MAC or IP
layers, or by VLAN.
The Gigabit
Ethernet module, in combination with the existing ADSL,
G.SHDSL, datacom, E1 and Euro ISDN modules, enables you to test
six different technologies with the same tester, just by
changing the module.
Aurora
Tango is a PDA-based telecom/datacom test platform developed
to assist field technicians in the installation, commissioning
and maintenance of a range of services and technologies. All the
test functions can be accessed via the PDA which also includes
the standard applications for viewing documents, spreadsheets,
diaries and email. Operators working with remote workforces can
easily schedule their tasks by using this combination of
functions.
